The HR department plays a vital role in hiring new employees, and the candidate screening process is one of the most critical stages of recruitment. After sourcing potential applicants, the next step is to screen them effectively. This involves three major steps: reviewing resumes, conducting phone or video interviews, and selecting the most suitable candidates.

A company’s long-term success depends heavily on the quality of each new hire—affecting everything from workplace performance and team culture to safety and compliance. For this reason, HR professionals and employers must take the applicant screening process seriously.

Below are the key reasons why candidate screening is essential.

1. Ensure Quality Hiring
