Employees’ attitudes have a huge impact on workplace productivity. Happy employees are 12% more productive than unhappy employees. Workplace attitude will have an impact on productivity in both ways. An employee with a good attitude leads to high productivity, and an employee with a negative attitude leads to less productivity in the workplace.

Attitude is the psychological state of the employee. Workplace attitudes are defined by different variables, and they are a hard-to-measure factor that ends up being crucial to the success of an organisation.  It’s HR’s role to manage these variables and factors in the workplace. Most organisations are looking for multiple ways to improve worker productivity by evaluating their attitude.

Attitude shows a strong foundational link between the state of the workplace, the happiness of employees, and productivity.

How do workplace attitudes affect your company’s productivity?

Employee attitudes have a high impact on business productivity, both directly and indirectly. Both positive and negative attitudes affect an organisation’s growth and performance. Consider the below important key items where attitude can make a big difference.

Job Satisfaction:

One of the important factors is employee job satisfaction. Job satisfaction will influence the company’s performance. Employees who work under supportive managers and positive environments have become more responsive. Workers have to feel what they do matters. Every organisation should provide learning and development opportunities to support their goals to perform better and be satisfied with their job.

Engagement:

Happy and engaged employees always have positive, good attitudes and have high productivity. However, it may convert to a negative, bad attitude due to a lack of support and engagement from the organisation. We’ve all experienced positive and negative feelings at work. When employees feel engaged and satisfied with their work, they will improve their skills and interest level and keep their attitude towards work positive, finally increasing their productivity.

Retention:

Employees’ attitudes impact the organisation’s wealth in many ways. They may have a good or bad attitude but the organisation should have realised the value of attitude. Ignoring it can harm a company’s employee retention. Employees who are not happy with their job levels and feel unhappy are more likely to stay with the company. To retain top, hard-earned, talented employees, taking the right steps at the right time is more important.

Steps to shape positive workplace attitudes:

  • Provide Learning and Development programmes to upskill themselves
  • Conducting workplace culture surveys periodically
  • Training sessions
  • Appreciation programmes for the betterment
  • Employee engagement activities

How positive attitudes help workplace productivity:

Employees with positive attitudes lead to high levels of effort, put their hearts into their work, and care about the success of the company.

  • Reduce stress
  • Boost your creativity
  • Improve time management
  • Maintain good relationships with peers
  • To make a good decision
  • Increase productivity
  • Create positive environment
  • It helps to achieve goals and career success

In conclusion, a positive attitude at work is beneficial not only to the organisation’s growth but also to the employees on an individual basis in terms of growth and development. Enjoy your working day with a positive attitude.
